--answer--Feed the Soil Life properly to end up with Top Quality garden plants--

Hi refreshed,

Your question: I feel silly asking this question but what kind of green mulch are you talking about. Cut grass, pulled weeds...that sort of thing. I think of mulch as something that sits on top and not worked into the soil. I was thinking you said to work the green (like weeds) into the soil.

Two different things?

Answer: Green Mulch is like leaves or grass that is not a plant that has dried completely down or Matured out by going to seed !

Or like Hay may be considered Green vs Straw would be considered dried down?

The Hay will have much more Food Value to feed Soil Life than Straw !

Look at Cows and Horses, what do they like to eat Best?

They would much prefer to eat Green growing Grass !

Next they like Hay over dried straw !

The Green Manure is when we work Green weeds into the Soil surface to feed the Soil Life !

Green Mulch is also easier for the Soil Life to eat and break down, than Dried Matured plants that have gone to seed !

After a plant has gone to seed most of it's nutrients have left the leaves and gone into the Seeds !

Soil Life likes to eat plant parts that still contain good stuff to eat !

Just like we like to eat the best tasting parts of the plant, which are the parts having the most Natural Sugars and Alkaline Minerals !

Cause and Effect !

Smile Tis your choice.
