systems
all the diff systoms have diff ranks with t the belts.. i hav eseen soem systems where red was a bout a year in an dothers below it/
ours it was the 2nd blet in..
soemhave white then yellow the n orange then red etc...
it varies..
btw i can giv eyouan y color wyouwan t rofl !! tho not the teaching..
don't worry as much about technique/ as youare learnign /you will refine that bit by bit.. practice katas as best youcan.. and focuson maybe refinign one technique at a time..
believe it or not as much as i babble here.. when i taught weapons (okinawan kobudo) bojitsu/sai/nunchaku/kama
i did nto give tone s of info liek i do here.. and it was always dependen ton wha t teh studen t was aiming for..
one tha t wanted more perfection for juding at tourneys was able to accpet me sitting on tehm more..htey knew i was helpignt ehm reach theri goal.. and none of my studenst eveyr faile dto place in top 3 in evne ts tthat i ahd taught them in.. but a studen t who wanted to jstu ge tthru the classes cau seit was a pre requisite tho 2nd degree in karate and relaly had no desire to learn kobudo ..i just hurriedn them thru.. they were only ther to advance in karate..and it served everyoen better that was really there fo rintense training to ge t them trhu quickly so i could giv emore atten tion to ones that wer eon fir e for kobudo as i was..
any hoiw.. i digressed.. i generally only poitn ed out 1-2 thing s that most caught my eye to give a studen t to refine.. so they didn't have 100 thign s to try to do at once.. then when they had that under controp i woudl giv ethen a new area...try ing fo rth emost importan t one s firs ttha t mihgt caus ethem damage if lef tunattedned..
liek thumbs out wrong.. blockign with hand in wrong position on bow .. in area it might get smacked and broken etc..
i thinka fte ryo uget to black blt is hwen you realise ..
youhave learn ed yyour abcs.. then you begien to sharpen wah tyou know / so don't worry so much except be the best youcan be at whatever rank youare and alswys remember eveyr one started out White!
i always thought like this.. in class.. it didn't matter wher ei stood /who was first /last etc.. cause no matter wher ei stood i was shining! others often got caught up in political oh i am at htis spot in line.. i'm like who caares ..if it is me tha tis looking better in technique and fcucus and shaarpness folsk gonna see the difference anyhow *smile* you get my drift..
that i sthe most wonderful thign ab out martial aarts..
youcan be a 3rd degree and stillahve a first degree look sharper and cleaner jstu simply cause they pay more aten tion to the details.
i congratulate you .. it is good to get in a calss if youcan once in whiel iron doe ssharpen iron..
best advicei can giv eyo u... practice at hi=ome slow
buidls balnace and technique.. i ahve seen folsk can do 30 kicks fast as the dickend and every on eis sloppy as heck.. if youmake in your basic exercises eacjhone be jstu as youwould in rela kata or fighting.. it willshow up as a diamond in teh end..
(my students hated me fo rthis btw) allthe other teachers..hurriedn folsk thru basics to get to katas)
i made them do each oen to a four count slow and holding.. and then did soemfas ones after.. they always want ed to get thru to the kata they were workign on toobad..
we alwyas starte dwith first kata and went up the scale and eat each lvlwhen a student got to the kata he was workig n on he staryed ont that one, whielt he rest contiuned on til all were done.)
Itellyou what.. when they did reviews my guys and gals had no problems hteywere alwyas ready at anymoment to od evyer kata upto ther lvlin top notch...
and many folks balck belt ifyouask them to show youa re dbelt kata cannot... even tho technically they shoudl be albe to do evyer kata up to their lvl.. most bb's spend 6 month jstu reviewing be for bb test caus ethey hav eto go backand emember allteh little ones.
i willhush.. but i remember one 3rd belt guy refused his 3rd blet because he fialed to do a 4 th leve kyu kata /for real.
jsut soem tips (btw i always worke ou t along besid emystudents/ to keep me in shape but also to giv ethem a model right next to them to see wha ti was doing in techniques..a nd becaue of this i was prettymuch always tourney ready / without practiccign at all i got 2nd palce in a kobudo class and i was honored tha tthe oen that took 1st was a natioanls cahmpion and had been in like 10 eyars longer than tme 8smile* it ws a ve ry wonderfult hign fo rme to bein such nonore d company and show ed also that jstu constnt practice kept me reayd liek that..
it was a nationals tourney/ tha tin fac ti had onlyentered to show suppor tnever really anticipatign winning a thing lol !! anyhow good luck it is grea t fun/ good foryou r body and helth and plus you learn to defend your self.. and others.
