Interesting thread. Try being on the opposite side of this issue, where the state should have stepped in and saved you, but didn't because your parents were "upstanding citizens". Sometimes you only hear the parents side, and children are too afraid of the unknown to tell what is really happening. Sometimes there are no marks, no scars, no proof that there is a problem, and children suffer horribly. Having been on the other side, I'd rather see them take a child away instead of leaving them to insidious abuse. Sometimes, Trapper, where there is smoke there is a bonfire. I get so tired of hearing people trying to defend the parents instead of truly looking at the welfare of the child. Your "rights" don't mean that you have the right to endanger your child, physically or emotionally. People will rescue an animal from an abusive situation before they will acknowledge that a child is in need of help. Why is that? Tweet
