For me it was the caffiene that set off my first panic attack/heart palpitations. I was just sitting at the table chatting with my hubby having a vodka diet coke and wham, my heart started racing, trouble catching my breath, sweaty shaky palms, etc. I had no idea what was going on. Thought I was having a heart attack. It lasted 15 minutes or so, but seemed like an eternity. That was the first day of my period. Then it happened the first day of my next period, and that's when I suspected the mirena. It's been 11 months since removal, and I have anxiety mid-cycle during ovulation and the first day of my period still, but nowhere near as bad as with Mirena in. Haven't had an "episode" in about 6 months, and not a major one like the first couple since removal. To this day, I still cannot have any caffeine though, and I don't tolerate alcohol well during those two times of the month. Take care of your body and get that Mirena out. If you do a search on this site, there are so many other women with your same symptoms.
