Dr Fuhrman MD has indeed expanded on the works of T.C Fry and Herbert M Shelton : two of the most notable gurus of the Natural Hygiene movement.

We should bear in mind though that these pioneers only built from the experiences of their forebears from the middle 1800's, and the successes of those professional Hygienic Doctors; but they did not have the advantage of the Scientific method/analysis that Fuhrman has today, and where we should most definitely take full advantage of this newfound knowledge.

It is significant that present-day Hygienists such as myself have partially strayed from the path of pure Hygiene, although still supporting its ideals, and where many of us now support the inclusion of some flesh-food within the diet; most notably "oily-fish" containing the most absorbable form of Omega 3's.

Flaxseed oil falls short in comparison, as the body has to convert this oil into only a small amount of the DHA's and EPA's that the body actually needs.
Omega 3's from Oily fish come ready-prepared for the body.

There has been much speculation and research into the role of Fatty-acids generally, and where the western diet is said to be heavily weighted in favor of the Omega 6's (ratio of approx 10:1) which compete with Omega 3 and make it unavailable to the body and out of balance with the rest.

Great post and worthy of a triple RRR in my book.
