Re: 50 Day water fast (edit)
Yes, BellaLatina is new and has only posted two messages, one a response to a 5 year old thread which most people probably haven't seen, so here it is a bit nearer the top of the messages:
//www.curezone.org/forums/fm.asp?i=1383937#i:
"Actually, Muscle loss is continued it is just slowed down. Where else is the body going to get protein from? The body needs a daily intake of protein every day. Especially those who are at a low body fat percentage lose mostly muscle when fasting, such as myself, and I am
Water Fasting to lose muscle."
However as far as I am aware, the human body is better of with less protein, and especially less animal protein. This probably goes against the grain of what body builders are traditionally told, however when you think of it, look at a bull. All it eats is grass.
Here are some myth-buster links on that:

American Dietetic Association (see myth no 5)

This one is called Scott's Raw Journey, but it does refer to Colin Campbell's China Study which is worth reading

and also John Robbins book, he is another dietary myth-buster who has conducted a lot of research.
You will of course find the reverse, as you can in any situation, for example
http://www.bodybuildingforyou.com/protein/protein-nutrition-myth-2.htm
"Myth #2 "High Protein Diets are Bad for You" - however this is not written by an expert, it is written by a columnist, and appears on a website promoting body building products.
I go with the low protein plant based version myself, I have read a lot on nutrition lately. But either way, lack of muscle use will get rid of it, we both agree there.
Hopinso explained how the body gets its energy in a fast in that old thread
