Mirena and possible mini-stroke?
Back in Janurary, on the way home from my son's dr. appt which was 2.5 hours away I had sudden and horrible symptoms of what I thought to be a weird migrane mixed with the sinus infection I had at the time. I had sudden severe headache, I couldn't talk, and everything I said was just slurred, I couldn't keep my eyes open or move my face arms or legs much either. I was seriously confused and couldn't follow my husband's questions. He didn't think anything other than what I thought it was though...
I just found out that I possibly had a mini stroke, which I thought to be insane because I have no risk factors and I'm only 25.
Then a friend asked me if I was on any form of BC... and I told her Mirena. Then it clicked in my head. Since I got this thing back in October I've been having headaches, backaches, an ovary cyst that burst... it most certainly did not go away like the commercials suggest they do... and some very mild
Depression and anxiety. I thought I could deal with those symptoms but having a possible stroke is NOT ok with me. That's where I draw a big line.
I have an appt for Wednesday to get this thing removed once and for all.
I also have an appt to have my head looked at and various other tests to see if they can tell if it was a mini stroke and if I am at risk for others.
This is just so confusing to me because I don't drink or smoke, or have high BP... and I was told Mirena has less of a chance of causing strkoe since it had no estrogen?
Has anyone else had this experience? Thanks.
