Re: Mirena Side Effects your doctor won't tell you about or believe that you have...
Not at all; please DO...since I work in the Pharmaceutical industry and with the FDA (I don't work FOR the FDA, but I do present products to them for approval), this is my area of expertise. I 100% believe that Mirena should have a black box warning (the strongest warning from the FDA) and that women should sign an informed consent prior to placement that guarantees they were told WHAT TO EXPECT, not what happens in 1% of the population, but WHAT WILL HAPPEN.
I'm willing to do my part to get the word out. The other thing I'm working on is getting a peer-reviewed journal article article written. I've published before in Contraception (a medical journal) for a birth control pill called Mircette. I'm trying to find a physician who will publish with me. If we, as patients, take a peer-reviewed journal article to our doctor, they WILL believe us -- if enough of our docs believe us, they WILL file the MedWatch forms, if the forms get filed, the FDA WILL react.
Personally, I'm not as concerned with a class-action lawsuit, but I do want to ensure that we are given ALL OF THE FACTS before we subject our body to something that I really do believe causes us harm.
Please post anywhere you'd like! You should also post the links to the FDA Website for patients to file a side effect complaint (http://www.fda.gov/medWatch/report/consumer/consumer.htm) and Physician-filed side effects (http://www.fda.gov/medWatch/report/hcp.htm).
I would urge victims to file both a phone and paper complaint (but paper is always better b/c it leaves a trail) and have their physician file one too!
Good luck!
