Re: 2 weeks in
I think my fav larabars are the lemon or key lime. They just add a little lime juice - I guess the dates are sweet enough that no sweetner is needed. That lime juice is strong and I'll be darned if it doesn't taste like key lime!
I saw the chart on one of the videos that floated around, or maybe on Dr. Fuhrman's site. (I think. Pretty sure. Can't remember!) It's definitely in the books.
I has a list of bases, pick one (or more): carrot juice, split peas, veggie broth, etc.
Pick from the onion family: leeks, onions, scallions, garlic, etc.
Pick beans (I didn't have beans but I used split peas as part of my base)
Pick veggies (I just threw stuff in)
Add spices - I added my favorites of course.
I used a can of split pea soup and 5 cups of water w/veggie boullion. I added onions, garlic, scallions, broccoli, cauliflower, zuchini, a turnup (I think that's what that thing was. hmm maybe not. A white root-thing), kale, bok choy, then I grabbed rosemary, thyme, cayenne, garlic powder, onion powder, black pepper. I just grabbed what smelled good and dumped it in. Then I let it simmer. Can I tell you it turned out great? :-D
I only hope I can recreate it when I want. I like the idea of blending in the leaves w/broth rather than eating them and adding cashews to the blend to make it creamy. I bought the cashews but never bothered pulling out the blender. I keep telling myself I will start using the dumb blender - then I keep not doing it! haha
