Re: Day 34 - No sign of the end yet

I agree with you absolutely Mouseclick.

Hygienists (and especially Shelton) always maintained that the fast is in vain unless living habits (especially the diet) are corrected thereafter.
In fact ALL of the benefits of the fast will be completely undone if the diet is not as that recommended by Hygienists generally, and especially as endorsed by our present-day Dr Fuhrman MD.

Good advice from Mouseclick SoulDoc, and especially with the way in which you break your fast...........chew your food well as digestion begins in the mouth with the mixture of saliva, and begin with small portions of fresh fruit: I also prefer oranges or the juice of freshly squeezed oranges as did the early Hygienists, although any fruit in season would be ideal...watermelon or galia melons are also an ideal way of breaking a lengthy fast.............just so long as the food is of a high water content.

Both Mouseclick and I speak from experience and the countless thousands of others who have undergone fasts of varying lengths.

Dr Fuhrman MD is most definitely the modern-day counterpart of Dr Shelton, and his advice re' a plant-based diet is critical in the post-fast period and thereafter, in avoiding excess weight gain.
The only issue I have with Dr Fuhrman is that (as far as I know) he does not advocate food-combing to the strictest letter of the law, although he does advocate eating fruit by itself, but this is really less than half the story.

The fast will re-educate your body into being satiated with LESS food, if as, you follow (what Dr Fuhrman refers to as) a "nutritionally dense diet". A properly combined plant-based diet will also allow you to eat MORE, but still lose weight until you have reached your desired goal and a normal Body-mass Index for your frame.

Permanent lifestyle changes post-fast will reap permanent rewards.

Regards

Chrisb1.
