Re: Help please for knee sprain side effects

First of all I would recommend you see a doctor.  Generally they are quite good at diagnostics and repair of injuries.  It is when they do things lik get out their prescription pads or do cancer treatments that worries me, but you should have your injury checked to know the extent of damage and for possible treatment rather than relying on someone over the internet who can just make best guesses.   And almost anyplace in the country has some kind of program for people who have no money for treatment.  I bet if you check around you will find one close to you.

Sounds like elevating your foot might be the thing to do on your own.  Ice is generally best within the first 24 hours or so following an injury.  After that, heat may be the way to go.  Bromelain, a simple extract from the pineapple plant, helps speed healing quite a bit.  Curcumin is a good anti-inflammatory.

And maybe call on a friend, relative or neighbor to help you out a bit.  Epsom salts baths could help, but you would need help or be extra careful getting in and out of the tub.

Luella had some good suggestions too, which I did not repeat here since she has already posted them.
