Re: Lobelia Tincture Making or Buying
Hi Jane, Thanks for making it so I can e-mail you direct. I have been making my own tinctures for many years and most of them are made to Schulze's recipes. I don't have the specific amounts of each ingredient in the Lung formula so I can't help you with that. I can help you with instructions for making Lobelia tincture if you are interested in doing that. Don't hesitate too long before jumping in because the best Lobelia tincture has to sit for several months to be really potent. Of course any will be better than nothing so I recommend you mix up a large batch of at least three or four
quarts since it sounds like you have a rather serious case of asthma. I would let it sit for at least two to three weeks and then start drawing off just what you will need for several weeks at a time and let the rest sit for at least six months before you pour all of it off. If you can't afford that much Lobelia to start with then just start with what you can. My wife uses it regularly so I make it in large batches. It may seem expensive to start with but it goes a long way. The straight Lobelia tincture that I can tell you how to make can only be used by drops and not droppers full. My wife takes about six to ten drops at a time as often as she needs it. Sometimes that is once or twice a day and sometime it is every hour or so (rarely).
Pacific Botanicals current price is $110.00 per pound for Lobelia seed. If you wish the entire plant it is considerably cheaper but the strength is proportional to the cost. I use only the seed but you can use the rest of the plant also.

Currently only Pacific Botanicals has seed. They all have the entire herb and it is about $17.00 per pound +or-. Another way would be to mix them. Let me know if you wish more information and I will be glad to give you detailed instructions. Good luck with whatever you decide.
