compare cig smokers to drinkers to obese. who is the biggest drain financially on society? cig smokers die suddenly and young, saving medical costs and pension money. drinkers are worse because you can live a long time with a bad liver, etc. and the obese are worst of all with diabetes, hypertension and special equipment, etc.

cig smokers work like hell and die young - the perfect citizen and certainly not what is portrayed by your acquaintance there. he, otoh, is a mess and costing us big time to meet his needs because he has rendered himself a helpless dependent.
