I'd expect that to not work immediately, but take a couple hours.

problem is, the non-experienced would always undoubtedly breathe in more than necessary, owing to the dalay in efficacy and for this reason I would guess no competent doctor would recommend Iodine inhalation by a patient unsupervised.
