Re: Iodine/Kelp question

Yes, if you research Iodine and hypothyroidism, you will see that small amounts of Iodine (i.e. kelp, bladderwrack, etc.) will help the hypo. if an Iodine deficiency is the cause. Oddly enough, if you get too much iodine in your diet, it will actually cause hypothyroidism. So, a little can help, a lot will do the opposite and cause it. I started feeling a bit better taking my Levothyroxine (TSH of 10) and felt better when I added bladderwrack in the evenings. I was certain I was deficient in iodine. But a week later, my hypothyroid symtpoms came back worse. Read the stuff about too much iodine causing hypo. stopped the bladderwrack and am starting to feel better. BTW, if you eat out or eat processed foods, you are certainly getting sufficient iodine considering the amount of iodized salt used in restaurants, etc.
