Beet Juice: Cautions and ratios by Norman Walker
Hi All,
I'm new to
juicing (started in Oct. and got my juicer on 11/11/04). I'm reading all the old, original Norman Walker books to try and learn about
juicing and formulas.
On beet juice he says the caution is:
"Taken alone, beet juice, in greater quantities than a wineglass at a time, may cause a cleansing reaction which may make one a little dizzy or nauseated. This may be the result of its cleasning effect on the liver and may, therefore, be uncomfortable. It has been found from experience that it is best to take less beet juice and more carrot juice in the beginning until one can tolerate its beneficial cleansing effect - then to increase the proportion of beet juice gradually. One 6 or 8-oz glassful twice daily is usually considered sufficient." pg 29

He goes on to say that women especially benefit from a big glass of carrot and beet juice daily.
For minstrual problems he recommends a wineglass full of straight beet juice (2 or 3 oz) two to three times daily.
For menopause he says this dosing is much more helpful than perscriptions.
Hope this is useful to someone out there. I am sure finding his books an great asset as I learn to juice at home.
Happy New Year!
