Trying something new for my husband, but don't have a clue about it

I have been married for 8 years and we are very happy.
Just recently (for the last year) my husband has suggested that we try soemthing new. I'm all ears....
But he said he would like to try anal sex.
Wow!! That was mindblowing. I've never tried it before and have always been a little sceptical of it as well.
About 6 months ago we tried and it hurt like hell, I stopped him.
About 2 months ago after having a few drinks, I decided to initiate it because I was curious. We've watched a few movies that show it and these women seem to be able to do it so freely and they like it.

How can I make it easier to try this? I don't want to take an enema before because I'd be worried that I may somehow explode on him (or so to speak).

Has anyone here ever had it before and if so can you give tips on making our first time a little more pleasurable? We just can't seem to get it right.
