Roomates - but not working out well at all!
In the beginning of the year my daughter and I rented a place with a good MALE friend of mine. He had currently been residing w/his parents and I was struggling financially do to a job loss in making ends meet on my own - so we agreed that things would be 50-50 in finances as well as household chores. I knew it was going to be adjustment for my friend to step up to the plate considering he had been living w/his parents w/no responsibilities for the prior 6 years, but I thought considering he was a 36 year old man - he wouldn't have that difficult of a time adapting to things that needed to be handled. We are now living together for 11 months and I absolutely have come to loathe him with a passion!
Finances are 50-50, but everything else is NOT! It's really upsetting me. I feel like I'm taking care of 2 kids! This grown man is the LAZIEST MAN I know/have ever met in my life. Not only am I taking care of the inside of the house in it's entirety other than his bedroom I am also maintaining the outside of the house all by myself!
He makes 3 times the amount of money that I do working 2nd shift, but yet he has only every purchased 4 gallons of milk in the past 11 months. The first time he bought a gallon of milk he thought the store overcharged him because of the cost! No Joke!
He has never lived on his own before, but he has been married at one point - resulted in divorce and that's when he moved back w/his parents because he was struggling w/child support payments for 2 children. His 2 kids come over every other weekend and I am the one who is cooking for them as if they were my own or step kids and I love his kids - they are great, but I'm not there mother and I don't think I should be taking care of them as if they are my kids, but it is quite odd just to cook for myself and my daughter while they are in the same house - that would make me feel like a jerk.
Every morning the lazy person wakes up at 10am and than plays games on the computer till 12, makes himself something to eat for lunch and than goes to work, comes home grabs a bag of doritoes and once again sits on his rear watching tv or playing games on pogo till 3am...This is his daily routine - and it's disgusting! He does nothing else unless it's nice summer weather and his friends want to play golf, but when it comes to the house NOTHING!
I've tried speaking to him - I've even yelled at him telling him I'm not "merry maids", but it only makes a difference for 2 days (if that) and than it's the same ole thing again.
Anyone got any advice on how to deal with this living arrangement? I still have months to go on this lease...so leaving is not an option!
