I also saw a panel of 50 dermatologists that would circle into the room in groups of 15-20. This was years ago at a prestigious dermatology university and conference. I couldn't believe then that 50 dermatologists couldn't figure it out. Both old and new ones. They were puzzled and ended up trying me on Accutane which didn't seem to help and only made my skin drier. Before that I had tried numerous steroids and antifungals and Antibiotics . I even was put on a leprosy drug called clofazimine. I also had already had a lip biopsy that showed nothing more than inflammation and was hence dubbed inconclusive by them. If only I had known then about the toxicity of all the drugs that I had been tested on. But as they say, "Hindsight is 20/20." Good luck on your appointment. Perhaps, they will find something. Since mine was years and years ago, perhaps there has been progress in the dermatology world. New drugs, etc...
