Getting some serious dermatologists to take this seriously and accept that it may be caused due to something not localised to our lip would be a major start. As soon as I get to the derm you can see he's thinking, "Right, what steroid cream should I try now."
They need to see the connection particularly to weakened immune system which has got some serious evidence due to the link to AIDS.
Good luck with that...

MoreThis is a reply to # 1,298,087that sounds amazing and i will be absolutly stunned if an entire panel of dermatologists cannot come together and find out what is causing your lips to constantly grow and shed. i personally think that one of us is going to have to take the big black thing in the ass to really figure out what is wrong lol, u know with the camera attached to it so they can see what is going on inside our intestines and stomach. Maybe there is a thick coating of crap on our intestines or some holes in the lining of our gi tract.

This is a reply to # 1,298,394I also saw a panel of 50 dermatologists that would circle into the room in groups of 15-20. This was years ago at a prestigious dermatology university and conference. I couldn't believe then that 50 dermatologists couldn't figure it out. Both old and new ones. They were puzzled and ended up trying me on Accutane which didn't seem to help and only made my skin drier. Before that I had tried numerous steroids and antifungals and Antibiotics . I even was put on a leprosy drug called clofazimine. I also had already had a lip biopsy that showed nothing more than inflammation and was hence dubbed inconclusive by them. If only I had known then about the toxicity of all the drugs that I had been tested on. But as they say, "Hindsight is 20/20." Good luck on your appointment. Perhaps, they will find something. Since mine was years and years ago, perhaps there has been progress in the dermatology world. New drugs, etc...- Re: 64643 and muhammed... uklad

This is a reply to # 1,298,812I moisturize and peel them whenI can now I used to leave them alone to 'heal' but realised after 4 years that it does not make any diffencee.
The yellowish tinge is just a build up of deadskin skin that ends up looking yellowish. Its just dirt and old skin making the colour, the original skin that keeps overturning on the lip is clear.
No infection or anything so you can rule that out.

Could you give me a bit more information of the biopsy operation you underwent.
I am scheduled to do a biopsy sometime in Feb as the dermatologist want to do it in one of the big hospital's as she mentioned that lips tend to bleed a lot and you need some special machine to stop the excessive bleeding if it does occur.

This is a reply to # 1,298,534Well, years ago when they did it, they did a wedge cut biopsy on the outside lower lip which wasn't the best choice in hindsight in terms of aesthetics. The biopsy healed but it sucked having that a gash on the lip. The scar eventually healed but there was still peeling over the scar. I would recommend they do a punch biopsy on you from the inner part of the lip from inside of the mouth that penetrated deep enough. I do agree that it really won't make a hell of a difference to the forum, even if these guys make a comeback but I kinda posted because I felt muhammed was hurt with my comments (tho it were not meant in that sinse)...
Lets also not forget that 64643 did say that his skin was intact and they weren't peeling for the past one month. Who knows if his regimen help some of us. I wonder how good or bad they are now?? This is a reply to # 1,298,655Look, I'm not having a pop at them but they've made their choice. I've got some doyle who seems obsessed that I had a couple of nights out giving me jip on here at the moment but you just get on with it.
They didn't really do overly much that we can't do ourselves I.E. Research on-line, experiment and display our findings on here. When I have time I'm going to look into dermographism. I remember a while back when we had to post our symptoms that there were a number of people who suffer from mild dermographism (Whereby when pressure is applied to the skin it goes red and stays red for absolutely ages) Dermographism also has links to immune system deficiencies and toxins which is the cause people seem to be pushing towards as to causing our E.C.
