Re: Stressful event ?
I actually put this into my narrative for comp class, as we were supposed to write something cathartic; but it's on a floppy and our new computer doesn't take those.
Anyhoo, I was 8 months pregnant, after trying to GET pregnant for over 15 years. Hubby and I just left our final birthing class (were on road right in front of building) when we were rear-ended by a couple of teenagers who were driving at 55mph and blew two red-lights before hitting us at OURS.
I lost it, big time. Hubby grabbed me to make sure I was alright and "flew" to get the nurse who taught the class...someone else assured him they'd call 911. Someone else got a blanket. I was absolutely hysterical. Suddenly I thought the car might burst into flames and started to aimlessly wander. People came from everywhere. I hate those insurance commercials with the sudden crashes cuz it still takes me back to that one day.
Sometimes I still cry when I see ambulances - but I always pray for everyone involved. My EMT was the funniest-looking guy you'd ever want to meet. Larry Fine (three stooges) hairstyle. But he was the calmest and most re-assuring guy you'd ever want to meet or to have hold your hand. I shall never forget him...EVER.
Damn it, V, I'm crying again. Hubby ended up blowing a disc and had back surgery and rehabilitation. Our daughter and I are perfectly fine. (Hubby saw it coming, I did not).
