Re: Looking for metronidazole source or "Flagyl"

It is "medSmex.com" (rather then "medmex.com") maybe that explains why you couldn't find it as I easily found it just now on
http://www.medsmex.com

If you are apprehensive about Flagyl, you can take Tinidazole (listed as Fasigyn on medsmex site), the only other nitroimidazole which has the same efficiency against amoebas and is (apparently) less toxic. It also has a longer half life which works to your advantage (and is somewhat less protein bound then Flagyl).

As for it being carcinogenic, that is not surprising, considering it works on DNA of anaerobic organisms. But, those doses which seemed carcinogenic were many many times greater then what is normally taken (like 10-20 times greater). Metronidazole has also been in use for about half a century so there is enough of long term data to know enough about it's safety. Not that I am happy that I had to take it, but it seems relatively safe if taken with caution and if one's kidneys and liver are healthy. Make sure you drink PLENTY of water while taking it, and also I would suggest starting with it on Thursday evening, as the worst will come Friday evening, Saturday and Sunday. That is if you have to go to work Mon-Fri 9-5. And if possible, stay home for that entire week. Also, make sure you take it for 10 days, or at least 7 days at least if you plan on repeating it a little later.
