Thanks for your reply parazapper. Directly after the surgery, I felt as though this was the wake call he had been waiting for, his whole approach to life was that of someone who had been given a second chance. He was sent for heart rehab, with classes on nutrition, health eating, medication and their effects etc. Along with exercise classes for 3 months, where they keep a constant check with heart monitors etc He continued with the execises faithfully for about a further 3 months. However the feeling of the second chance seemed to leave as well as the exercising all within about 8 months post surgery. He had lost a lot of weight, which he is now putting back on, and like I say I see a very distinctive change in his personallity.
I have tried to talk to him about it, telling him I'm concerned but he just becomes defensive, and refuses to acknowledge any of this. Along with being detatched I find him to be much more arrogant. He has always had a bit of an arrogant streak in him, however he wasn't like that with me and the children. Now it's all part of his new attitude to life. He had the heart surgery at 51, pretty young.
