i think the skin only overgrows because there isn't a barrier, before i was looking for ways to control the overgrowth because i thought that was the cause. and i found ways but i think it is a natural mechanism to protect the absence of the skin barrier. I don't think you have normal lips and suddenly its starts to overgrow. It has to start peeling first and where raw skin is then it overgrows. If i have a complete barrier then i don't think there will be overgrowth at all. I think it can retain the moisture in it, because that is what it cannot do with EC. Like i said EC could be diagnosed as severe dehydration of the skin of the lips. I'll stop using it when i think the barrier is %100, until then i'll use it.
Just another reminder to people using it... if you think some skin is ready to come off, then try pulling it the skin will tell you if it can come off or not and don't be disheartened if it does. Overgrowth areas will come off and won't grow back. You won't be able to pull off the fleshy healthy areas, that will be extremely painful. My bottom lip is nearly there. Some rough parts fell off this morning. It fantastic when you wake up in the morning and you see no overgrowth at all now. About day 8 i started the lip stretching to get the mobility and it didn't damage any skin. It's only small concentrations of urea and hydrogen peroxide, it's safe to use. I want any one using it to get to where i am, so they can understand what i've been typing about.
