I worked as a clerk for a regular dry cleaning shop, my first job.

One of the smells was a solvent, like gasoline (petrol), I think. Maybe naptha, too.

I was let go from that job because the seasonal business dropped off...but I found myself writing, "slack season" on my next job application.

And I couldn't find an eraser!
