Re: Ike

Hi Julie,

I am not someone who is used to hurricanes for
the most part. I am used to tornadoes being
from the Midwest. My first hurricane was Rita,
here. I am hoping I am prepared enough...ggg.
Oh, the news just included a tornado watch
for this area. :(

I have those cool led lights that burn 100
hours on one set of 4 double AA batteries.
Of course, they are saying to expect weeks
of no power, although, hopefully they are
not saying that to us but they might be. I
am well off with batteries though and had a
box of those lights so had enough to put
around the house and take some to the neighbor
as they have people sheltering there.

I was looking for the larger batteries as we
have a battery powered television which uses
them. Radio will be fine and we have one of
those hand crank ones if power is out for
a long time and batteries in this area are
hard to come by.

I took a good nap so expect to spend the
night up waiting. Ike expected to arrive
between 4-6 am. Will sure be praying our
trees hold and that we are protected. Now
it is dark, I am sure there are a lot of
people hunkered down and worrying as the
power along the coast just went out all
at once, completely. All anyone can do now
is wait and pray until daylight when we can
see what the outcome is, or how good our
dome of protection held.

blessings,
Zoe
