Re: salicyclic acid mixed with vaseline

Carmex is a lip balm with many other ingredients including salicyclic acid , like menthol, phenol,lanloin, camphor, fragrance and etc, but in my case the derm gave me prescriiption pure salicyclic acid 5% to mix it with vaseline in the pharmacy,i think the acid has a burning effect and the vaseline helps to minimize the burning by moisturing the skin and meanwhile it fights the scaling and the keratin of the skin, this is what it claimed to be, but if anybody has ever tried this acid alone or with other moisturizer and didnt help,i dont want try and further damage my lips, because these derms dont know what we have and they put you on trial of whatever they think that may work or not but on the other hand you bear the consequences of the side effects of the medications might bring.
