Re: Almond Milk

Thank you. I have a vita mixer. I do have some regular almonds from a regular store on hand, but I am thinking of going to a health food store and hunt for raw for future use. So, my steps should be: 1. Soak 1 cup of almonds in filtered water (it doesn't matter how much) for as little as 6 hours and as much as 5 days. 2. Massage them and throw away the water and debris. 3. Blend the nuts with 3 cups of filtered water in my vita mixer. 4. I can strain the mix if I want to and use the paste another way or I can leave it in the milk. Am I right? Do you make brazil nut milk the same way? Of course, all nuts should have the shell removed before making the milk. Is that right? Doesn't a lot of the nutritional value go out with the rinse water? How about putting a high quality salt in the soak water? I use distilled water and that would draw out nutrition from the nuts. Salt should help stabilize the water to prevent some of that. Am I right? Should I soak them in tap water instead? As you can see I am unsure of how to do things and would appreciate any good advice I can get.
