Misconceptions about vitamin C...

Jim Humble doesn't seem to understand what antioxidants and vitamin C do when they encounter ClO2 and Miracle-Mineral-Supplement .

He thinks that vitamin C preserves the sodium chlorite and prevents ClO2 from being released. What actually happens is that vitamin C and other antioxidants react with the ClO2 and use it up.

When you add an acid to sodium chlorite, some ClO2 is released as free ClO2 and the rest forms chlorous acid. If you add vitamin C to the solution, the free ClO2 gets reduced and if you let the solution stand for awhile, more ClO2 is produced as the chlorous acid breaks down. Adding additional vitamin C reduces the free ClO2 again, and this process continues until all the ClO2 has been used up.

In the acidified sodium chlorite industry, this fact is well known and vitamin C is used to terminate the preservative quality of ASC as the product goes to market. A simple rinse is all that is needed before the produce is sold at the market.

Come on Jim Humble, let's get the correct information out there.

If you happen to read this, you can verify this by running this experiment.

Mix up a 6 drop dose of Miracle-Mineral-Supplement and add 200 ml of water. At the grocery store you can find a product called Fruit Fresh. It is mostly vitamin C. Add 1/16 teaspoon of the Fruit Fresh to the solution and stir. Immediately, the free ClO2 will be reduced and the taste and odor of ClO2 will disappear. Let the solution stand for about 2 hours, and it will gradually turn a bit yellow and the odor will return as the chlorous acid breaks down and forms more ClO2. You can then add another 1/16 teaspoon of the Fruit Fresh and go through the whole process again.

The vitamin C is not keeping the ClO2 from being formed, it is reducing it as it is formed. This is an important distinction.

To completely neutralize a 6 drop dose of Miracle-Mineral-Supplement activated according to the MMS protocol, you need about 250 mg of vitamin C. Vitamin C is quickly absorbed into the body, so any ClO2 will be quickly neutralized upon taking a dose of vitamin C.
