I have heard of chiropractors who use techniques like that. Perhaps I haven't learned my lesson, but I am still planning on finding and going to a chiropractor who can correct the interference. Since experiencing first hand the benefits of chiropractic, aswell as the potential harm of poor technique, in my opinion it really depends on the practicioner. Perhaps you can make some recommendations?
