I was also told to wait until my period to get the Mirena placed because your cervix is softer and easier to penetrate during your period. Insertion didn't hurt at all for me.

I stumbled on this site googling information about how long it takes to get preggers after you get it removed because my husband and I want to have a second child. I've been thinking for a year now that I need to get it out because something isn't right.

I couldn't believe my eyes when I started reading everyone's posts and how I have also been experiencing all of those symptoms. It is scary that our health care system would promote a product that has such a horrible effect on people's bodies. Clinical trials did not tell the true story about Mirena and I am going to do my best to speak out to my doctors. I'm lucky to say that I have a great OBGYN and a great family practicioner that always listen.

Good luck and get that thing out. Dragonfly is right that your mood swings will only get worse.
