A cool image, but to me this clearly shows relative humidity behavior on normal commercial and private contrails over a particular region. If you notice, the more clear areas (the edges), show hardly no contrail formation (and trails abruptly end), clearly indicating the edges of this weather system and thus dryer air around it.

It bears perfect correlation to aircraft routes. Aircraft routes are vectored by various NAVAIDs (Navigational aids) and ATC (assisted with a radar grid) to safely set up departures and arrivals around various airports/runways. It looks man made because it is. IFR flights are not designed to fly direct but to follow strict and structured air routes (key term STRUCTURED) so as to not cause collisions. Much like roads are grids on the grounds with strict rules as to which way we can drive our cars, so is most aviation you see in the sky.

Maybe if you're writing a fiction novel. It is a cool photo, and it does show how a good number of contrails can add to the persistent cloud cover given the relative humidity in that layer of air, however, anything beyond that is fodder for the Conspiracy hobbyist who does not understand the basics of aviation and weather (or doesn't wish to).
