Or, when you unearth a real valuable, take it to authorities. They must list it, officially, and that means that you get to keep it, after an appropriate length of time, if no one claims it.
You may make yourself a lifetime friend simply by being the guy who turned it in. Honesty and generosity are fine adornments. They speak worlds about your character.
Besides, they are loads more fun.
