And...

...We took a blind lady out on the beach, at 6 a.m. one summer morning.

I gave her my detector and scoop, and stayed with her. Suddenly she had 'eyes' that most folks didn't.

Dh tossed a penny in her path, a couple of times...to give her the 'feel' of it. In time, we saw that it would be best if the unsighted could learn to hunt on a level ground...like the area we rope off and seed with nickels and prize tokens for our club 'hunt'.

But, dh and I learned the vast capabilities this lady possessed. She had spent her lifetime, since two years old, 'seeing' the world in her own way. Astonishing!

Then there's the young fellow, unsighted, who's parents let him have a bike, and his own way.

He's taught us all that we ALL can 'see', without our eyes...well enough to navigate in, at least, some traffic. Maybe he won't take a paper route, but he can manage himself, safely. That's wonderful.

We just don't know what we have inside, until we try.

And, check the look on people's faces...accomplishment shows. Everyone is beautiful when they have tried.

F.

P.S. Put a piece of duct tape over the vent on your detector...that keeps the dust out.

:D
