It's metastatic cancer that started out in the appendix. What was left of the appendix was removed this surgery. The last doctor never removed it and that's why we're in *ahem* court proceedings. We had no choice but to have surgery because the mets was so exstensive and her belly was HUGE. Her type of cancer doesn't have much of a blood supply so traditional chemo and many of the alternative therapies weren't helping. The doctor says she can go back to eating her flaxseeds about two weeks after discharge. The cottage cheese was helping her put weight on. Ma is doing wonderful now. She's a real survivor.
