New Here and Frustrated, Tempted, & Depressed
Hi All,
I realized a week ago that no matter what I tried my severe bloating would not dissipate. My diet was never unhealthy to begin with. In addition to bloating, I had occasional bouts of diarrhea and abdominal pain. My bowels weren't acting like they normally do and I'd wake up slightly bloated and at night I appeared 6 months pregnant. I bought a book called Gut Solutions. I thought beofre the book came that it may be yeast.
I had been prone to recurring vaginal yeast infections. Also,
food allergies were not uncommon.
So to confirm my yeast imbalance concerns I searched online and then in one of the chapters in the book. I took the candida questionaire and realized it's most likely a yeast imbalance.
I was so relieved to find out what was causing my distress. I cut out gluten, virtually all dairy, and most sugar.
I bought brown rice based bread and pasta and eat gluten free oats in the morning or a gluten free waffle. (none of these are good, but the oats are the best of the three)
I live with my parents and they are not on the diet, so most of what they eat tempts me a lot. Either the smell or sight, or sound of them chewing/crunching can get me very tempted. I had already thrown out the foods that were bad for me, except the ones my parents eat. Most places I go I am frustrated. I try hard to be optimistic and focus on what I Can have.
Does anyone know about symptoms of wheat/gluten withdrawal?
I have been crying a lot, but try to hide this as I don't want to be complaining to people every minute. I am menstruating now, so hormones alone may be making it more difficult. Usually during menstruation I move my bowels very frequently, but now I am going maybe 8 times within 24 hours. (sorry if I gross anyone out)
Also I've experienced extreme muscle weakness. It is probably just made worse by my period.
I hate to complain so much, even here in a Support Forum. I am afraid to go to see my grandparents since whenever I see them we go to a restaurant.
I am feeling really depressed most of the time. So far it has been 5 days on the gluten free diet.
Thanks for your time, I really appreciate it.
