there was always this myth that women were the backbone of the family and that men were the ones who were always shirking their responsibilities. but since the advent of womens rights, the family has become a thing of the past. it seems the more power women have had in this society, the less important the family has become. kind of the opposite of what one is led to believe. when men had absolute power, they chose to have families and remain in marriages.
