Re: cell-e-phoney

I had one for a while, till the novelty wore off and I realized that it was an artifically-created "need". Show me a woman who doesn't have one, and I'd say that she's my type. How many women does anyone know who does not have a cellphone ? Everybody wants to feel important it seems, like, "Oh, I'm important, which is why I have to carry this gadget around, since someone is going to be needing to talk to me, because I'm so important." That's why Cell Phone companies are so successful, because people are vain. I realize there are legitimate business reasons, but most of the time, important decisions are made IN PERSON. Cell Phone s are gimmicks, although they're good for calling a spouse, etc., and reminding them to pick up a gallon of milk, etc., but even that leads to laxity. If one didn't have the cellph, then they'd have to be more responsible and plan a head a little.

Nothing worse than being with someone carrying one of those little brain cookers, being in conversation or whatever, and their phone rings, to disrupt normal interpersonal discourse. Like, you're at the store and the clerk comes up to you asking if they can help, and halfway through your explaining what you need, their cellphone rings, they answer it, and politely say to you "excuse me". People can be so rude, and if they don't realize it, that's no excuse. If a sudden call on a cellphone is enough to take someone's attention away from me, then I don't want or need their association. When clients visit and the phone rings, I pick it up and gently hang it back on the hook. My visitors are worth more than any caller, although I do check the caller id before hanging up. If it's important, they always call back.
