Re: Will Adaptive Yoga Classes help improve balance?

Tai Chi is low impact that aligns balance and energy = Chi. Great for the elderly. Studies support less hip injuries in the elderly. Tai Chi balances concentration (memory strenght) and leg strenght. The student goes at their own pace repeating stances until the all the postures are learned. An excellent body art therapy for anyone young or old, disabled or not. It is not only graceful and body strenghtening but teaches breathing as well. When one is unsteady on their feet they are not breathing well either. Tai Chi addresses all three, but for beginners, there is no better way to learn confidence in ones stance which is primary for all of us. It builds confidence as well. Yoga is great too, I'm not discounting all the terrific benefits Yoga gives us but for those not steady on thier feet it might be a little daunting as we are not use to those postures in daily living.....just a thought. Start with Tai Chi they graduate to Yoga.
