whats the CAUSE of schizophrenia?

My uncle is schizophrenic and he is doing 20months in jail for the second time. He refuses to take the medication because he says it makes him "sleepy". The sad part is my uncle is in jail because of his mental illness. And to top it all off, this society is so unfair and now my uncle is doing time for something he doesnt remember doing. My uncle doesnt need to be in JAIL but in a MENTAL INSTITUTE/HOSPITAL. Once he gets out I really want him to get better. I really believe its linked to parasites, heavy metals and liver/blood toxicity. Ideas? Tips?
