Treating Bacterial Skin Infection

Greetings, All

We are having a problem with rounds of lice infestation with the children. Unknowingly to me until recently, it has developed progressively with one of the children (preschool-age). The way it is explained to me, the itch irritation has been exacerbated to the point that sores developed and have become infected. Being very concerned as I have never seen or heard of anything like this before, we did go to the traditional pediatrician to get a diagnosis, not having a naturopath. They recommended a systemic antibiotic round and over-the-counter medicated shampoo (like for dandruff/psoriasis.)

It seems the infected lesions may be classified in relation to ‘secondary bacterial infection’ and because of the antibiotics prescribed, along with doing the little research I have been able to since the discovery, it is a systemic infection? There are also swollen lymph nodes along the right side of the neck, indicating to me systemic infection. There are no other apparent symptoms except for occasional crankiness, understandably. So it is a blood/lymph problem? I would like to treat it naturally but am concerned how to do this if it is systemic? And for a child?

At first I was thinking a topical treatment to the lesions would not be sufficient if it is a systemic problem. Is this correct thinking? (Well, any symptom of illness is because of systemic imbalance, the symptom is simply the topical expression of such, so what system is involved here? Everything sources to blood/lymph anyway, no?)

On a sidenote, I am wondering which ‘comes first’….the lymph blockage and then the bacterial infection developed because of impaired lymph activity?…or as my husband is thinking, the lymph nodes have 'caught' part of the bacteria but because unable to process effectively, have formed physical blocks.

My husband and I have successfully treated viral infections and even acute digestive and respiratory symptoms holistically but bacterial infections are new territory.
I am wondering if a body/foot bath would help draw out the toxicity, anything I could address topically to the scalp? And to address the systemic infection? Thanks for any help/insight on what’s going on here and any possible natural therapies. Its helping get a broader perspective just to write it out.

The approach we've taken before is simplified nutrition, enemas, rest, some herbal assistance. For this case, I could do the same except maybe the enemas. How about adding mild detox baths/foot baths? How else can we assist the lymphatic system to relieve the congestion?

P.S. I have learned that over-the-counter lice-killing shampoos are toxic. Did you know that the active ingredients in them are PESTICIDES? There are natural alternatives…coating with mayonnaise to remove the lice, then remove the eggs by hand, olive oil treatments, tea tree oil. The fact remains these are 'parasites' simply feeding on waste created by a polluted system, so to speak, which is getting closer to the root problem.

Thanks,
Love
Lori
