Yes, there is a man in our town who was born with hydroencephalitis (sp?) - a water-head baby. He's still alive and in his 60's, I believe, which is rare. He's not "all there" but he has his own unique ways and abilities. For example, he knows everyone in town, thousands of people, and he also knows their telephone numbers (or did when I was a child, anyway). He'd greet people that way sometimes - Hello Mary! 555-1234! And he would sometimes call people at random to briefly chat.
Thousands of phone numbers and names in his memory, even though he was very simple and somewhat child-like.
Since you mentioned it, I do have a very sensitive sense of smell - I smell faint things others do not - and am easily offended by odors of various and sundry natures!
Perhaps I should develop my "nose"!
