Re: Is it Folliculitis Decalvans

Hi Brian,

What type of steroids have you been using?

I've been applying Clobetasol for the past 2-3 weeks and the inflammation has gone done quite a bit and doesn't itch that much anymore. I agree that there still seems to be some activity going on.

I've also been taking 400mg of Plaquenil for the past 9 months and I believe its helped a little. The combination of both steroids and Plaquenil seem to be helping the most. My scalp does have scarring, rough surface, and hair loss. I don't really know what pustules look like so I dont know if I have them.

As for shampoo, I use Jasons Natural Jojoba Shampoo most days and about once a week I use Nizoral 2%. My derm is very confident that it doesn't matter what I put on my head as it won't make any difference. He says that the Plaquenil is long term and that it works from the inside out.

I've also gotten rid of all hair products except my homemade lemon & water hairspray. :)

Regards,
Follicle
