Re: Chart of Conventional Produce w/ Least Amount Pesticides

If you want to know where i got the chart from, you could just ask instead of making a snide comment. Its really simple, its called courtesy.

As for the rest of what you say, yes its possible that these numbers can differ depending on where the food is grown. However, it should be noted that pesticides cost money and thus the grower is likely to use only the amount of pesticides needed for optimum harvest, no more. this is why some foods, like avocados, dont have as much pesticides as other foods regardless of where they are grown - it just a naturally hardier plant that falls prey to fewer bugs and therefore needs fewer pesticides to grow it.

if you are looking for highly detailed info about exactly how much of each chemical is sprayed on strawberry crops across the US go here. you can search around on that site and find out the same info for other crops.

another issue to keep in mind is that when strawberries are sprayed, they are sprayed directly. the pesticides seep right into the fruit. whereas avocados, and a few other plants, have a protective shell which keeps them from absorbing as much of the poisons.
