My daughter is now 2.5 and she still has a little lesion left on the bottom of her opening. My doctor said don't worry about it as this isn't an issue until girls reach puberty, provided it stays closed. He said it is actually quite possible she could be doing some activity, such as riding a bike, that could open the remainder of the lesion. It is my personal opinion that perhaps seeing the specialist would at least ease your mind and give you more information on what options for the future should be if the lesion didn't open on its own. What I did too is to start potty training so we didn't have to have her area covered up with a diaper all the time and the area could "breathe." She's fully trained now. That's what my instinct told me to do. I wish you well. Tweet
