If god did that to me I'd tell him where to go. There's no evidence to suggest we were created by any god. There is evidence that fasting works. Some of what we advise here is on faith I agree with that totally but we make every effort to keep what we consider facts and beliefs separate in giving out advice and suggestions. And nothing I base only on 'faith' will I threaten other members here with dire consequences if they don't follow 'my way'.

For example I will emphatically tell people to be careful breaking a fast because the consequences of not doing so can be fatal. That isn't a belief, it's based on knowledge we all have access to. My belief in living a cruelty free lifestyle is every bit as strong though the reasons for it are not all based on concrete facts. So I will never threaten dire consequences for anyone not willing to follow 'my way' of living without cruelty. Though I believe the consequences are dire and all around us to see but I don't have the right to push my beliefs onto others no matter how strongly I feel about them.

And if God thinks he has the right to lord over us then he can damn well come and do it himself because just like I don't believe I have the right to push my beliefs onto others I don't believe any other human has a right to do that to me.
