Re: Hush, girl, you're gonna make me cry!

Honey, I had children because:

1. I like them.

2. God says children are a blessing of the marriage relationship and I wanted God's blessing. In my case, it HAS been a blessing. The fruit of the womb is His reward. Ask any parent here if they had to do overs, if they would not have had their babies. It's challenging to raise children, but it is SO worth it, Chris.

3. I believe in the sanctity of human life. I lost my fourth baby and that experience, though it tore my heart apart, taught me just how precious and fragile human life is and it taught me how to love others in a way I don't think I could have learned any other way. It also motivated me to have as many children as I could, and God gave me four more. I have never once regretted it.

When I meet an infertile couple, I try to be as sensitive to them as I possibly can, Chris. It doesn't seem fair that God blessed me with so many children and this other wonderful couple is not able to have even one child. I pray for them, and since I am a former midwife, I sometimes talk to them about diet, lifestyle, sexual patterns, etc., and a few tricks of the trade to help them get pregnant. It is God who opens and closes the womb, and sometimes we humans just have to step back and let God be God.
