Re: 32 days
I think you're getting too scared off because of a fair warning. High on Water has admitted she went past the point where she was actually given a sign to end the fast. So I would suggest she is warning us not to ignore the signs, rather than to avoid the fast altogether which she still says is a great thing. Longer fasts are very beneficial, no matter that some books and fasting doctors say they aren't. The greatest achievements I've read about through fasting have all come from extended- if not completed- fasts.
Go to a retreat if you can, be supervised. But don't become afraid of the fast! We learn more and more about our bodies each time we do fast, we become in effect our own doctors. That doesn't mean complacency- far from it! It gives us great responsibility!
Most people know by now that I dry fast and most would consider biofeedback even more urgent while water fasting, and rightly so- the body can last for longer without food than without water. But the rules for me are no different dry fasting to water fasting. ALWAYS err on the side of caution. I have ended more
Water Fasts for safety reasons than dry fasts. My first 30 day fast was preceded by a 10 day fast which I broke because I thought I was hungry. The detox symptoms I got immediately after breaking the fast- correctly- proved me wrong. So I recovered for a time and then embarked on my 30 day fast, which I again ended when I felt hungry. I have also ended fasts because of ennervation and stress, but never fear. Fear is only justified if you are going to ignore any symptoms that should not be ignored. Learn to know your body, how it is while fasting and while not fasting, and if something is going wrong you will certainly feel it- then you just need to be prepared to act accordingly.
