Re: The Daughthers of Babylon
I think that it is a prudish tendency of Christianity to be so willing to badmouth (villify) the Catholic church. I don't say that to defend their practices at all, but so that we can be free to see the truth. The false church that we are being warned of is NOT the one that we feel heroic in demonizing, the "false church" is the one we refuse to see and requires money for it's survival, the one that feels comfortable to us because it is as simple as complying with a set of 'instructions' (it is much easier to be TOLD what to do than to think for ourselves). The first century church was in HOMES/houses,... a simple social gathering that would INCLUDE worship and a BULL/RAP session of fellowship, not the regimentation of how to conform to an "instruction booklet" (our PERSONAL relationships/devotion should not be the same as each other's, they should be PERSONAL).
The MYSTERY of what Babylon really is (for those who haves eyes to see, spiritual eyes) is plain to see (if you really do have a dedication to truth, John 14:6) and justice (as God is light and shows what is truly just, Ephesians 5:8 and 9, so shall this "light" open our eyes).
This "mystery" is a great mystery (to the common man/unbeliever or not), not a simple 'murder mystery' type of mystery, it is a mystery to ALL of 'this world' who would rather not see that "Babylon" is all of 'human nature'. Abel was 'able' to escape this tendency of 'predatory human nature', he retained a close relationship to God by remaining within God's true message of how to love Him, while Cain offered The Lord his own version of worship.
The MYSTERY of Babylon is as "the mysteries of God", they are not intended to remain unknown, but not all shall be able to see them, for they can only be seen by those who truly seek a more intimate relationship with the dream of their heart ("All Wonder and Beauty" is what I used to call Him before I knew His proper name).
The "kingdom" of "Babylon" has manifested itself in many ways, not just in the construction of The Tower of Babel and the halls of war organizations (Pentagon and such), but in the hearts and minds of all mankind (hatred, resentment, corruption, UNJUST and harmful competition AGAINST each other, etc.) because of VAIN ego (wanting to be MORE than the OTHER person and resenting their noble character/righteousness,...as Cain did).
Everything mankind does (even good deeds would not continue to be done without ego, but VAIN ego is the offense) is motivated by ego...

but in the end, it is simply chasing after the wind (spiritually/heartfully insignificant, is your intention that your worship be better than your brother's...like Cain, or is your priority peaceful coexistence and fair treatment of your brother?).
If 'this life/world' is where you have set your heart (is your dream) and you find this world ACCEPTABLE/satisfactory and you don't figuratively "hate" this world/life, then what gain would you find in what The Lord has to offer?
If you decide this world is not preferable to what The Lord has in store for us...

If your heart is not right, you will never understand the "mystery" and will think my words to be foolish babbling. It is only for those who choose to have the "eyes to see" the insufficiency of the "Commands/sin/law/text/faith" doctrines of man, and to realize that the "law" as we know it (law of COMMANDMENTS) no longer exists in Christ, for Jesus has brought us freedom from that "law of commandments". It is not that He no longer 'requires' that we discipline/restrict OURSELVES to just/fair behavior/attitudes towards each other, but we should always be mindful of communicating OBJECTIVE truth to each other in order to avoid causing mistrust/confusion/chaos/resentment. Our preference for 'peaceful coexistence' and just treatment of each other is 'the present heaven' that should be in our hearts (1 Corinthians 13, whole chapter), only then will we be able to see "the DEPTHS of God".
Jesus brings FREEDOM from the law of commandments...
