Re: Hives!!! BUT WHY???

Diagnosing chronic hives is more involved than diagnosing acute hives. A very detailed history is taken to determine the exact appearance and duration of the hives. A food diary should be kept, and all medications documented. The time course of the hives should also be covered. For example, do the symptoms persist when not at work or while on vacation at a different location? Some chronic hives are caused by infections that were not realised, especially sinus infections. Chronic hives are also associated with thyroid disease - hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism. An infection with the yeast, Candida albicans, is also associated with chronic hives. All of these conditions should be ruled out. Skin testing is of variable benefit since people with hives tend to react positively to most agents tested for.

One reason for Chronic Hives is that the defence system of the liver is compromised and overloaded so that hives are triggered by a variety of mild reactive foods or substances that would normally be dealt with routinely. For example a continuous sinus drip in the throat.

I suffered from hives a couple of time when I was detoxing my liver and ate something that it didn't have the spare capacity to deal with.

Review what your are eating, medication you are taking, and solvents you are using on your skin; perhaps a new lotion you got for Christmas. If it happens a home and not at work then ask yourself, what's in the home? Any pets?

Try are eliminated medication and supplements, a stick to a neutral diet. Go away for a weekend and see if you get hives while away. If this type of elimination approach fails then by all means muster up the courage for a liver flush.
